The very first eyeshadow palette I ever owned was from Coastal Scents way back in high school. My mom found out about the budget friendly company (I’m assuming from Youtube circa 2008-09) and purchased several of their palettes from brights to nudes and concealers. I would slap on a color or two, but I didn’t really know what I was doing.
Fast forward to last month, I stumbled across a Youtuber who was doing some beautiful eyeshadow looks using non other than Coastal Scents shadows. One color in particular really grabbed my attention and that was “oktoberfest” (the last orangish color in the Coastal Scents Custom Palette). I went to the site but hey were unfortunately out of stock because of a half-off sale going on. Last week I checked back into the site and “oktoberfest” was back in stock, along with several other colors I wanted to try out.
These shadows are super cheap at $1.95 each, so I can see why they were out of stock during the half off sale. I purchased 9 shadows, plus the 12 shadow magnetic palette with clear lid to create this Coastal Scents Custom Palette.
The colors are pretty pigmented for $2 bucks and you can pick and choose the exact colors you want. This is great if you are a beginner or looking for a cheaper alternative to some of the more costly, high end palettes such as the Urban Decay Naked Palette’s.
When I first received the shadows I was a bit worried some of the colors were too similar, but once I took swatches I could definitely see the true color of each. The pots are a bit soft, you can probably see the dent I put into ‘Peachy Copper’ above when I tried to open it, so be careful when putting them into the palette. The colors on my arm listed from left to right are: Peachy Copper, Camel Taupe, Coconut Husk, Barista, Deep Roast, Chocolatier, Wild Raisin, Burnt Umber and Oktoberfest.
