How I Moisturize Dry Kinky Hair

Moisturize Dry Kinky HairI have arrived! lol Just kidding. But I figured I would share the miracle products that I have recently found does wonders for my dry hair when used in unison. This is how I moisturize dry kinky hair.

When I cut my hair all off and went natural the first time I couldn’t figure out why my hair wasn’t retaining moisture. It was constantly dry, tangled and overall unpleasant to work with. After about a year of growing it out, I gave up and texlaxed my hair (not on purpose, but the relaxer didnt really take how I wanted), which resulted in me repeating the relaxer 3 times over the course of several months. Surprisingly I still had hair on my head even though it was shedding left and right. In a position of not knowing what I should do, I decided to cut it all off again, this time into a pixie cut. That ended up being more maintenance than I thought, so I became a fan of wigs while I slowly cut away all the relaxed hair and nursed my hair back to health.

It was never my intention to go natural again, but seeing that I was planning on wearing a lot of protective styles for the next year or so it made sense to just avoid chemicals all together.

I recently cut off all of my relaxed ends and l noticed my hair was still bone dry and was causing me frustration. I went online and purchased some highly praised products in the natural hair community, but they actually made my hair feel worse than it already did. That was the final straw. I started using products and natural oils that I had around the house and wouldn’t you know it actually worked really great for my hair.

None of the products in my current routine have a pretty bottle or fancy name with pictures of curly and afro-textured hair on it, but that doesn’t mean a thing to me anymore, because Ive found what my hair likes.

Sleeping on loose textured hair, especially kinky hair, is one of the worse things you can do against your efforts to moisturize dry kinky hair. If you keep it twisted/braided your hair will hold onto moisture a lot better and remain detangled and soft.

Have you figured out what works for your hair? I would also like to know what products have you used that others seem to rave about but sucked for you?

Everyone raves about coconut oil but it makes m hair soo hard and coarse…i love lighter oils like almond or jojoba even though my hair is very thick, Different strokes…

    • I’m glad you know what works for your hair, lighter oils pretty much evaporate off my strands lol
